Melody & Bruce – Roger Williams Botanical Center Wedding

Melody and Bruce were married on August 11th, with a ceremony and reception at the Roger Williams Botanical Center in Providence, Rhode Island.

Both Bruce and Melody are intelligent, accomplished, goal-driven people who work in the field of education. Bruce recently started school at Harvard! And I couldn’t have asked for a bride who was more fun to be around than Melody. She is constantly joking around with everyone around her, which brought a fun spirit to this wedding.

In fact, at one point during the first dance, the music stopped, and Melody and Bruce took it all in stride. They even made a joke out of it! This is exactly what I’d expect from the two of them; they are just too much fun to let anything slow them down.

With that said, these two also knew how to get serious. My favorite moment of the day was directly after the ceremony, when they got a few minutes alone together in the rose garden to celebrate being husband and wife. Bruce kissed Melody on the head while he was embracing her. As a fine-art wedding photographer, it’s the organic, pure moments like these that make my job a joy.

As far as Providence wedding venues go, the Roger Williams Botanical Center is amazing for wedding photography. As the largest public indoor display garden in New England, it has multiple greenhouses filled with over 150 species of exotic plants, some animals, and a koi pond. I was never at a loss for something interesting to photograph!

2017 WGBH BOSTON A-LIST BEST WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER FINALIST

For the second year in a row I am excited, honored and humbled to receive this honor. It’s a much needed morale boost for me right at the tale end of wedding season when things are winding down. Thank you to all that voted and all those who continue to tell others about my work. This is a huge honor because it took many votes from my supporters, clients and peers.

Clarese & Andrew Grafton Inn Wedding

Clarese and Andrew were married on September 16^th, with a ceremony and reception at the Grafton Inn in Grafton, Vermont.

I spent most of my time prior to the ceremony with Clarese and her bridesmaids and bridesman, while my second shooter, Kathryn O’Kane, was with Andrew and his groomsmen. I did check in with Andrew quickly before the ceremony, too.

Some of my favorite images came from that “getting ready” period, like the moment I caught Clarese staring at her dress. It was obvious she was lost in the excitement of emotions of the day. I also loved the image of the bridal party helping Clarese get ready. All hands on deck!

Grafton Inn Wedding Photography

Once Clarese and Andrew were ready, it was time for the ceremony. The Grafton Inn had done an amazing job decorating the hallways with swag specific to these two—it had a sort of rustic elegance, especially in the garden. The flowers and floral headpiece worn by the bride were beautiful as well; the entire effect felt nothing short of magical.

Of course, no wedding is complete without a few guests of honor. The wedding was officiated by Richard McGonagle, a Hollywood film, video game, and TV actor. And the other guest of honor was the co-ring bearer—their dog. I always love when a couple includes their pets in the ceremony, and their dog looked amazing in a floral crown to match Clarese.

After the ceremony, Clarese and Andrew were able to party the night away with their friends and family. At one point, the bride and her maid of honor danced to their favorite song from their childhood—which ended up being my favorite moment of the whole night.

Of course, for as much activity as there can always be during a wedding, it’s those quiet moments that mean the most. The bride and groom were able to find a private moment away from the reception that turned out to be another one of my favorite images of the day. There’s something so special when a new husband and wife can take a moment and simply enjoy a moment alone.

Clarese & Andrew, thank you for giving me the honor of being your wedding photographer. I wish every wedding experience was like yours: classy people, a rustic location, and a stunning couple.

Jasmine & Chimel Lyman Estate Wedding

Jasmine and Chimel were married on April 30th, with a ceremony and reception at the Lyman Estate in Waltham, Massachusetts.

I spent my day bouncing back and forth between Jasmine and Chimel, while my second shooter, Julie, focused on the detail shots and on sticking with Chimel. I’m glad I had Julie there for those shots, too, because there were so many beautiful details. The floral wall by Nectar Floral Design was gorgeous, for example, and Jasmine simply looked stunning in her dress. I also love the image of the groomsmen hanging around the piano—it has a classic, manly rat-pack feel.

Of course, the real star of the show was Xaiden, their little ring bearer. He was just magical, one of those kids who demands your attention simply by being in the room. Every picture he is in dominates your attention. His smile is the perfect representation of his parents’ love for one another. My favorite image of them was of Chimel fixing Xaiden’s tie on the stairs, though I’m also partial to the one of them sitting in front of the bed. Chimel has his arms around his neck in a loving almost headlock that perfectly captures the love between them.

For some reason, their first look felt more special than most. Their facial expressions truly say it all, and every time I look at the photo of them, I joyfully relive it. It was my favorite moment of the day, for sure.

There were so many other moments between them that showed their unique relationship. Chimel showed off his modern-day chivalry when he stopped to adjust Jasmine’s shoe. And as a well-known DJ and hip-hop artist, you know Chimel made sure the party was amazing for all the guests involved!

Jasmine & Chimel, you two are probably the coolest people I’ve ever shot for: cultured, beautiful, modern, and woke as F*&! I want to be you! Thank you for the honor.

Teesha & Levi Oheka Castle Wedding

Teesha and Levi were married last February 16^th, with a ceremony and reception at Oheka Castle in Huntington, New York.

As a Boston wedding photographer, I love how geographically it’s easy for me to shoot weddings in different venues all around New England. That’s how I found myself capturing Teesha and Levi’s Long Island wedding at the iconic Oheka Castle. This castle is a stunning wedding venue, with simply breathtaking places to photograph. It was made even more amazing by the décor for Teesha and Levi’s wedding day. Everything from the seating chart etched onto an ornate Victorian mirror to the custom lighting was simply spectacular. I never thought I’d get to shoot a wedding like this. It was deserving of royalty.

Teesha and Levi’s Oheka Castle Wedding

Whenever possible, I like to bounce back and forth between the bride and groom before they come together for a wedding, but that wasn’t the case for this couple. Thankfully, my trusted sidekick, Kathryn, was able to help me out, shooting with Levi and his groomsmen after she helped me shoot all details with Teesha as she was getting ready.

While I wasn’t able to spend getting ready time with Levi, that meant I was able to spend plenty of time and attention on Teesha—and I’m glad I did. After all, some of my favorite images of the day came from moments with Teesha. She was such a glamorous bride. Before the events of the day began, I got a great shot of her in the tub. She was enjoying a quiet moment of contemplation before the whirlwind of her wedding. And in another amazing image, Teesha sat on the stairs and showed off some leg (and her killer blue heels). It was a fun shot and not at all typical—which is why I loved photographing her.

This bride kept me on my toes as a wedding photographer with not one, not two, but three different wedding gowns. She wore a more traditional dress for the ceremony, a runway-worthy jumpsuit for the middle of the reception, and a long-sleeved black gown for the end of the reception. Her mid-reception dress (designed by Brittany DeShields) was featured on Huffington Post Relationships‘ “16 Fierce Wedding Jumpsuits For Brides Who Don’t Do Dresses“. I’m telling you—she looked like a queen, worthy of the castle we were photographing in. I loved seeing everyone’s reactions to the dresses, too.

Then there was the dancing—it was incredible! The soul trail line dancing was the best, and it really felt like everyone in the building was showing off on the dance floor.
